Estepona author is a hit with the kids Estepona-based Ana Fischel is a 33-year old author whose series of seven children's books called “The Zartarbia Tales” transports the reader through a world of make believe and fantasy. With the central character Isabella Zophie on a quest and guarding precious and purposeful gifts, the story is reminiscent of classic children's literature such as Alice in Wonderland and The Lord of the Rings. However, as soon as eyes are laid on the work of Ms Fischel, it becomes clear that the world that she has created is particularly original and stylish. Her characters boast intensely expressive faces and don intricate and colourful costumes. Ms Fischel studied illustration and film-making at the Edinburgh College of Art and has contributed designs for the Edinburgh Festival and architects who developed the London Eye. She writes poetry and has also lived in Paris where she worked as an artist. Her new book series is receiving media attention in various countries, and the costumes of her characters are being created by theatrical designers in London . A special book signing took place in October at Bookworld España in Puerto Banus, which was attended not only by the author herself, but also by some of the characters of her book including a certain Mr Krock O´Dile.
