Raventhorpe is an old-fashioned private school and also home to the headmistress, Aunty Cisely. Raventhorpe is a huge, imposing building set
on four levels and it is in the attic that Isabella discovers the locket and enters
Zartarbia for the first time.

She is a feisty 10 year old girl who holds the key to the safety of Zartarbia when she unwittingly discovers a locket that gives her access to this strange world. She is spirited and soon becomes an integral part of the FADF's fight against the darker forces at work in Zartarbia. |

Isabella's eccentric aunt who is also headmistress of Raventhorpe. An elderly lady who despite her years is very much young at heart. She has a mischievous sense of humour and adores Isabella's visits. |
The mean natured cook at the school. A bad tempered woman who thinks Isabella is nothing but a spoilt brat.
The plump, homely housekeeper at Raventhorpe. Quite the opposite to Cook. She is the sort of person who always has a good word to say about everybody and is well liked at the school.
